The multi-cultural art space 'Light Theater,' which offers new artistic experiences through light and music, opened early bird ticket sales on May 15 ahead of the launch of its second exhibition, ‘Dali: The Endless Enigma’.
Early bird tickets, allowing visitors to experience ‘Dali: The Endless Enigma’ at special prices, are available in limited quantities through the official ‘Light Theater’ website and Naver reservation. The first phase of early bird tickets offers a 30% discount on adult admission from May 15 to 28, while the second phase offers a 20% discount from May 29 to June 14.
Opening on June 15 at Light Theater, ‘Dali: The Endless Enigma’ reimagines the works of 20th-century surrealist painter Salvador Dali?who was inspired by Cubism, Surrealism, and Futurism?through light, music, and cutting-edge digital technology to create a unique immersive art experience. Commemorating the 119th anniversary of Dali’s birth on May 11, 1904, in a small town in Spain, this exhibition showcases over 60 years of his works including paintings, photographs, large sculptures, and videos, illuminating the genius behind his ‘eccentric’ image.
In particular, it focuses on the artist’s distinctive personality and unconscious mind, his obsession with the bizarre and supernatural, and his deep attachment to his muse and collaborator, his wife ‘Gala’.
The concurrently presented exhibition ‘Gaudi: The Architect of Imagination’ features the magnificent architectural works of Antoni Gaudi, Spain’s iconic architect who greatly inspired Dali. Emphasizing Gaudi’s infinite creativity and boldness, the exhibition highlights his architectural style rich in curves and surfaces inspired by natural structures and forms, famously stating “There are no straight lines in nature,” and his expression of dazzling light through stained glass.
Gaudi’s representative architectural masterpieces such as Guel Parc, Casa Mila, Casa Batllo, and El Templo de la Sagrada Familia are depicted with spiral graphics, vivid colors, and grand towering forms, offering an immersive and moving experience that oscillates between dream and reality.
Light Theater’s encore exhibition of ‘Gustav Klimt, Gold in Motion’ runs until June 6. Following its brilliant golden-themed presentation at Light Bunker in 2018 and Light Theater in 2022, which attracted over one million domestic visitors, this is the last chance to see the Klimt exhibition. It features masterpieces spanning the entire life of the 20th-century golden painter Gustav Klimt, alongside works by conceptual artist Yves Klein, who devised the unique blue ‘IKB (International Klein Blue).’ Visitors can also enjoy the photo event ‘Jungle,’ which recreates a vast jungle with light, providing a healing experience of nature within the city.
Jinwoo Park, CEO of Timonet, stated, “After a successful start with the Klimt exhibition, Light Theater returns with the wildly imaginative and awe-inspiring works of Dali and Gaudi. We hope those who want to experience astonishing immersive art that transcends the boundaries between reality and dreams, consciousness and unconsciousness through light, music, and advanced digital technology will not miss this exhibition opportunity.”
Light Theater is a cultural regeneration space that preserves the spatial characteristics of traditional theaters, including lighting and stage equipment, with an overwhelming scale of approximately 1,500 pyeong (about 4,960 square meters) and a maximum height of 21 meters. It offers dynamic immersion by integrating the latest technologies such as high-definition projectors, servers, speakers, automated video and audio systems, and 3D sound. As a multi-cultural art space providing diverse cultural and artistic experiences, it presents various contents and programs beyond exhibitions.
