Hosting the Donghaeng Festival with Local Children
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that on the 28th, a companion festival event with local children was held at the Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market.
The event was hosted by the Gokseong Cultural Tourism Market Development Project Group and was conducted for all grades of Gokseong Jungang Elementary School.
The students took the time to develop an interest in local agricultural products through a shopping experience they led themselves, and to understand the role of the local traditional market and rational consumer activities.
About 70 students each received a 10,000 won Onnuri gift certificate and planned the items they intended to purchase.
Afterwards, they shopped at the Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market with their families and submitted certification photos capturing their experience, acrostic poems about the traditional market, and activity reports to the project group.
After finishing shopping, the students also experienced various programs such as making dalgona candy and natural dyeing.
Lee Sang-cheol, Governor of Gokseong-gun, said, “This was a valuable event that increased understanding of the traditional market through the participation of local students and families, and showcased a traditional market that provides various pleasures. We hope this event will widely promote the vibrant appearance of the traditional market and further contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
Meanwhile, the Gokseong Cultural Tourism Market Development Project Group is planning themed and quarterly events to ensure that the ‘Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market Companion Festival’ can continue as a regular event to promote and strengthen the image of the traditional market.
