The course introduced this time is Sindang Station. Starting from Exit 8 of Sindang Station in Jung-gu, Seoul, the route goes through Sindang Tteokbokki Town, Jungang Market, Hwanghak-dong Flea Market, Dongmyo Park, and ends at Dongmyo-ap Station. The name Sindang-dong in Jung-gu, Seoul, where Sindang Station is located, originated from the fact that many shamans gathered and formed a shaman village. The area between Sindang Station and Dongmyo-ap Station is also full of scenes where you can read Seoul's past and present.
Sindang Tteokbokki Town was formed in the late 1970s and became a specialized street that spread nationwide in the 1980s and 1990s. It is characterized by thin tteokbokki with various ingredients cooked instantly, and it has maintained its reputation to this day. After exploring the Tteokbokki Town, the next stop is Jungang Market, famous for noodles and jokbal (pig's trotters). In the underground shopping mall, you can find Sindang Creative Arcade, a creative space for artists.
Hwanghak-dong Flea Market near Seongdong Technical High School is famous as Seoul's representative secondhand and flea market. It grew in scale from a secondhand market established when Cheonggyecheon was covered. Nearby, there is a kitchen street filled with all kinds of kitchenware and secondhand furniture used in restaurants.
Next is Dongmyo Park. In this park, there is Donggwanwangmyo, Treasure No. 142. Donggwanwangmyo is a shrine built in 1601 to honor Guan Yu, a Chinese general. Yeongdo Bridge, the bridge you cross heading toward Hwanghak-dong across Cheonggyecheon, was first built in the early Joseon period under the name Wangsim-pyeong Bridge. It is a bridge that holds the farewell story of King Danjong and Queen Jeongsun. It was dismantled during the late Joseon period for the use of stone materials in the construction of Gyeongbokgung Palace but was rebuilt in 2005 as part of the Cheonggyecheon restoration project. After taking a lap around the park and heading to Exit 3 of Dongmyo-ap Station, today's journey ends.
