Yeongcheon-si Begins Construction of Shared Utilization Center and Joint Logistics Platform with 10.5 Billion KRW Project Budget

Support for 50 Small and Medium Enterprises in Donam-dong

Yeongcheon City in Gyeongbuk Province is set to complete the Donam Industrial Complex Innovation Support Platform project, aimed at supporting automobile parts companies, in December after beginning construction in June.


This project, initiated following selection in July 2021 through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' public-private partnership 'Smart Innovation District Creation Project for SMEs and Startups,' aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the local manufacturing industry by establishing a shared smart platform for joint use of equipment and technology development that individual companies in the underdeveloped SME-dense area find difficult to handle alone. The platform will focus on future industries such as electric vehicle parts and eco-friendly component materials.

Yeongcheon City plans to invest a total of 10.5 billion KRW, including 4 billion KRW in national funds by 2023, to build a two-story shared use center with a total floor area of 992㎡ and a shared logistics platform of 1,337㎡ in the Donam-dong area, where 50 automobile parts companies are concentrated, to provide multifaceted support to local resident companies and partner firms.


The shared use center will include a testing building for prototype production and educational spaces for workforce training, aiming to help local companies secure future-oriented technologies for electric vehicles and mobility parts transition, support lightweight parts development, and cultivate specialized on-site personnel.


Additionally, the shared logistics platform will establish a prototype production room and logistics warehouse to expand resource circulation through the distribution and expansion of high value-added recycled materials and to provide much-needed logistics space.


Yeongcheon City stated, “We will strive to activate cooperative industries between the automobile and new materials sectors and promote technology development in the materials and parts field so that local companies can grow into technology-equipped enterprises in line with the changes of the 4th industrial structure.”
