Gyeongnam Nonghyup Delivers Daily Necessities to Foreign Seasonal Workers in Hamyang County

On the 30th, Gyeongnam Nonghyup visited the Hamyang-gun Cooperative Joint Business Corporation and delivered daily necessities to foreign seasonal workers who entered the country through the public seasonal labor project.

This support of daily necessities was prepared to express gratitude to foreign seasonal workers who have greatly helped alleviate the rural labor shortage. About 20 people attended, including Director Kim Ju-yang, Hamyang-gun branch manager Choi Yoon-man, Hamyang-gun Cooperative Joint Business Corporation representative Jeong Young-jae, and foreign workers.

Foreign worker Nguyen Thi Thum said, "Receiving these daily necessities warms my heart," and added, "Although I had difficulties adapting due to language and living environment issues at the beginning of my arrival, I am now very satisfied."

Director Kim said, "Foreign workers who entered through the public seasonal labor project greatly help small-scale and marginal farms that lack labor during the farming season," and added, "Gyeongnam Nonghyup will strive to ensure that the public seasonal labor project can be carried out in more regions through continuous interest."

The public seasonal labor project is a joint initiative conducted by the government, local governments, and Nonghyup. The government provides budget support and oversees the project, local governments sign agreements with the workers' sending countries and manage their entry, and Nonghyup is responsible for contracting, operating, and dispatching the workers.

Through this, unlike the previous system where farms directly hired foreign workers, local governments and Nonghyup cooperate to hire foreign workers and supply labor to farms on a daily basis, thereby reducing the burden on farms.
