Park Ji-won: "I'm Not in a Position to Respond to Son Hye-won... Dogs Bark but the Train Goes On"

Mokpo KBS Interview "Yoon Pushes Me into Real Politics..."
Repeatedly Expresses Intention to Run in the 22nd General Election

Former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won said, in response to criticism from former lawmaker Son Hye-won regarding his declaration to run in next year's general election, "The dog barks, but the train goes on."

On the 30th, in an interview with Mokpo KBS's 'Departure West Coast Era,' Park said, "I am not in a position to respond to what former lawmaker Son is saying."

When the host asked if he would run in next year's general election, Park said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol is in such a state now, and our Democratic Party is also in such a state," adding, "I have done broadcasts and lectures expressing my concerns for the country, and this time President Yoon is pushing me to run in the general election. So I will run," reiterating his determination.

Earlier, Park was subjected to a police search on the 24th on suspicion of illegally hiring two close aides to an agency under the National Intelligence Service during his tenure. Subsequently, in an interview with a media outlet, Park expressed his intention to run, saying, "President Yoon Seok-yeol is making me enter real politics and run again in the general election." Park's electoral districts being considered include Mokpo, his former constituency, and his hometown areas of Haenam, Wando, and Jindo.

In response, former lawmaker Son targeted Park through Facebook, saying, "What does a search and seizure have to do with politics? I will see all sorts of disgusting excuses," indicating her criticism of Park. The two have had an uncomfortable relationship since exchanging sharp exchanges when allegations of real estate speculation in Mokpo's old downtown area involving Son arose in 2019.

On the 29th, Son posted on Facebook targeting Park, saying, "Please be sure to run in Mokpo. We will welcome you warmly," expressing her intention to respond.
