Hanwha Aerospace is investing in a U.S. secondary battery startup.
Hanwha Aerospace announced on the 30th that it will participate in the Series C investment of the U.S. startup Forge Nano along with U.S. investment firms OIC and Catalu Ventures.
The total amount raised by Forge Nano is $50 million, equivalent to 66.4 billion KRW.
Founded in 2011 in a laboratory at the University of Colorado, Forge Nano possesses technology that coats secondary battery materials to extend their lifespan. Its technological capabilities have been recognized, attracting investment from Germany's Volkswagen.
Forge Nano plans to increase investment in material technology with the secured funds and start construction of a 1GWh-scale pilot facility within this year.
A Hanwha Aerospace official stated, "We will proactively secure next-generation battery technology and explore ways to apply it to eco-friendly power systems applicable to future mobility."
