Annual Production of Over 300,000 Tons of Pig and Poultry Feed
Livestock food specialist company Sempio's local subsidiary in Myanmar, Sempio Myanmar, announced on the 30th that it has completed the construction of its second feed factory in Mandalay, northern Myanmar.
Sempio first entered Myanmar in 2014 as the first domestic livestock company to establish its first feed factory in the Bago region of southern Myanmar, and after nine years, it has built its second feed factory.
With this facility, the feed produced by Sempio Myanmar locally is expected to increase from 150,000 tons annually to over 300,000 tons. The Mandalay feed factory produces feed for both swine and poultry.
Since starting its overseas expansion in the Philippines in 1997, Sempio operates subsidiaries in five countries including Vietnam, China, Myanmar, and India. In the case of Myanmar, the establishment of a 'localization strategy' played a significant role in achieving the current stable business operations.
When the first production at the Myanmar Plant 1 began, 90% of the local employees had no experience in the feed industry, making the initial business launch challenging. However, through understanding the local culture and market, the company quickly stabilized its operations and established a solid local foundation. Additionally, with over 70% of Myanmar's market being poultry, Sempio has achieved remarkable growth by operating not only pig farms but also breeder farms, hatcheries, and broiler and fattening consignment businesses.
Lee Byung-ha, CEO of Sempio Myanmar, expressed, "Through the second feed factory in Mandalay, we have been able to achieve growth in the northern region of Myanmar, which holds great potential." He added, "We will move forward as a global win-win company that develops together with Myanmar amid new possibilities."
