SK Telecom announced that it will launch the quantum-secure 5G smartphone ‘Galaxy Quantum 4’ in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. It will be available for activation starting from the 8th of next month, with a retail price of 618,200 KRW (including VAT).
The ‘Galaxy Quantum 4’ is SKT’s fourth quantum-secure device, equipped with a QRNG (Quantum Random Number Generator) chipset that protects service apps with quantum security and encrypts authentication information stored within the device as well as external memory.
When apps installed on the smartphone store authentication information such as fingerprints or facial images, they are linked with the device’s secure area (Keystore) to ensure that each login to the app is protected by quantum security. The application of QRNG is expanding from financial apps like banking, cards, and payment to service apps such as SNS and games.
Additionally, as with its predecessor, the device supports encryption of information stored on external memory through QRNG. It also offers a ‘Quantum Indicator’ notification feature on the status bar, allowing users to feel that they are using quantum security services.
The ‘Galaxy Quantum 4’ is priced similarly to previous Quantum series models but has enhanced competitiveness in design and performance. Along with strong quantum security, it features premium-level performance and design reminiscent of the Galaxy S23, including a waterdrop camera.
For the first time in the Quantum series, it supports IP67 water and dust resistance, and is equipped with a camera supporting nightography (low-light night shooting), a feature previously only available on flagship Galaxy S series devices with optical image stabilization (OIS). It also has a large 5000mAh battery. The phone will be available in three colors: Awesome Graphite, Awesome White, and Awesome Lime.
The ‘Galaxy Quantum 4’ can be purchased nationwide at official certified dealers and the official online mall T Direct Shop starting June 8.
Various benefits will be offered to early buyers. From June 8 to 14, all customers who purchase within the first week after launch will receive one of the following CU benefits: T Universe CU 4900 6-month pass + Samsung Pay CU 20,000 KRW exchange voucher, or SK Pay points worth 50,000 KRW. Additionally, basic purchase benefits include a genuine Quantum 4 case, a 2-month YouTube Premium subscription, a 6-month SK Shielders Mobile Guard subscription, and free popular Galaxy paid themes.
On the official online mall T Direct Shop, a stock notification promotion will run until June 4, giving the first 10,000 customers who sign up for notifications a 1,000 KRW Naver Pay points voucher. Furthermore, from June 5, additional events such as SK Pay points will be provided to customers who make reservations.
During the June T Day Week from June 5 to 9, the ‘Quantum 4 Lucky Chance’ event will be held. Customers who solve quizzes related to the ‘Galaxy Quantum 4’ during this period will be entered into a draw where 500 winners will receive Olive Young gift certificates worth approximately 20,000 KRW. Additionally, throughout June, a 0 Day Quiz event targeting young customers will be held, with 5,500 winners drawn to receive Sulbing gift certificates worth about 5,000 KRW.
SKT is also conducting a ‘Double Assurance Benefit’ event in partnership with IBK Industrial Bank of Korea until July 31 for 10,000 customers who purchase the ‘Galaxy Quantum 4’. Customers who use IBK’s i-One Bank app after purchasing the device will receive a 1% preferential savings interest rate and a 3-month Samsung Care+ subscription. First-time login customers will also receive two coffee gifticons as an additional benefit.
