University Innovation - Regional Development Cooperation
Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province and Changwon National University held a "Business Agreement Ceremony for the Promotion of Glocal University 30 at Changwon National University" on the 30th.
The ceremony was attended by Lee Ho-young, President of Changwon National University; Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon City; Kim Yi-geun, Chairman of Changwon City Council; Kim Nam-gyun, Director of Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute; as well as representatives and executives from 15 participating institutions and companies including Korea Institute of Materials Science, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters, Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LG Electronics, Doosan Enerbility, Hanwha Aerospace, STX Engine, K Shipbuilding, Bumhan Fuel Cell, CTNS, and Gyeongnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration.
On the 30th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam and Changwon National University held a business agreement ceremony for the promotion of the "National Changwon University Glocal University 30."
This agreement was established with the purpose of actively cooperating to build a collaborative governance for university innovation and regional development through the promotion of the "Glocal University 30" project at Changwon National University, and to establish a leading model for the future development of the Changwon community and the cultivation and utilization of outstanding local talent.
Additionally, the attendees discussed the promotion of the Glocal University project and the establishment and operation of governance among academia, research, industry, and government sectors, seeking ways to cooperate.
Through this agreement, the participating institutions and companies pledged to actively cooperate in ▲ diagnosing the current status of cooperation among local stakeholders (academia, research, industry, government) for university innovation and regional development ▲ establishing strategies to strengthen connections among stakeholders for sustainable regional development (including key academic fields and governance) ▲ preparing strategies to foster and utilize local talent needed by the region and future society ▲ and establishing policies for sharing and jointly utilizing human and material resources and information related to higher education held by each institution.
President Lee emphasized, "Changwon National University aims to fulfill the public nature and responsibility as the only national higher education institution in Changwon City by leading sustainable development in Changwon through the promotion of the Glocal University project for university innovation and regional development. To this end, we will establish a solid cooperation and mutual exchange system among participating research institutes, local companies, local governments, and related organizations to accelerate university innovation and regional development."
Mayor Hong said, "Taking the Glocal University application as an opportunity, we will build governance among academia, research, industry, and government for university innovation and regional development, actively supporting the provision of innovative technologies by universities and national research institutes to competitive industries and supplying excellent human resources to companies, thereby promoting regional industrial innovation and talent development. We will strengthen cooperation with local universities so that universities can greatly contribute to regional development."
