Official Response Plan to Be Announced After Additional Election Commission Meeting on the 31st

No Tae-ak, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), stated on the 30th that "there are plans to conduct a full investigation" regarding allegations of preferential hiring of children of senior CEC officials.


Chairman No made these remarks while attending an emergency CEC meeting at the Gwacheon office. Regarding the controversy over preferential hiring, he said, "I sincerely apologize for causing concern to the public."


The CEC is expected to announce specific plans related to this matter on the 31st.

There was no separate comment in response to questions about the ruling party's stance that the allegations of preferential hiring of children of senior CEC officials are being used as a pretext to shake the CEC.


When asked why there had been no statement despite the allegations, he replied, "There is no such reason. We are paying attention and sincerely apologize."


After discussing measures to increase transparency in personnel matters on the same day, the CEC plans to hold an emergency meeting on the 31st to receive a special audit report on Secretary-General Park Chan-jin and Deputy Secretary Song Bong-seop and to issue an official statement.
