Sam Altman Holds Meeting with Domestic Startups... Over 100 Selected by Ministry of SMEs and Startups

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, which has attracted worldwide attention with the launch of ChatGPT, will visit Korea on the 9th.


Invited by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, CEO Sam Altman plans to hold meetings with domestic startups on that day.


This invitation was promoted to enhance Korea's AI competitiveness and to foster the growth of AI-related startups through exchanges between OpenAI, a global leader in the artificial intelligence (AI) field, and domestic startups.


The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will hold a meeting where Minister Lee Young and Sam Altman will have a dialogue, and domestic startups can ask questions they have about OpenAI.


Startups wishing to participate in the meeting can apply through the K-Startup website from the 31st until the 2nd of next month. To ensure smooth event progress, about 100 companies will be selected after reviewing technical relevance and other factors.

Separately from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups meeting, a roundtable with CEO Sam Altman will be held in the afternoon of the same day.


Developers, entrepreneurs, and academic personnel interested in OpenAI's AI technologies, including ChatGPT, can apply to attend the roundtable event jointly hosted by OpenAI and SoftBank Ventures and sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups starting at noon on the 31st.


Minister Lee stated, "The recent advancement of AI technology is leading tremendous changes across all fields of economy, industry, society, and culture, so much so that it can be called a revolution, creating new opportunities for our startups."


He added, "Through this event, we plan to explore cooperation plans with OpenAI so that domestic startups can gain new growth opportunities."
