National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced on the 30th that all trainees have successfully secured employment in the United States for three consecutive years through the "2022 Jeollanam-do Youth Overseas Employment Support Project," which has been promoted in collaboration with Jeollanam-do since 2020.
This project is a youth employment promotion initiative aimed at addressing youth employment issues by providing overseas job opportunities to young people residing in Jeollanam-do, and nurturing global talents equipped with international job competencies and practical skills.
This year, 24 trainees who succeeded in overseas employment secured jobs at 14 companies in the United States, including FNS, Ocean Blue Express (logistics company), Cosmax, Banzai LA (cosmetics research institute), Double Tree by Hilton, H-Mart, and GBK (distribution company).
Moreover, since the project began in 2020, about 10 individuals employed in the U.S. have been hired as full-time employees at excellent companies such as Woori America Bank (financial company), an architectural firm (Slash Pac), and Leftbankart (art institution), adding significance to the project and increasing interest among local youth.
Choi Se-woong, Director of the Talent Development Center at Mokpo University, stated, "The achievements of local youth entering overseas markets over the past three years are the result of Mokpo University's efforts to cultivate global talents," adding, "We will not stop here and will expand the scope by developing various overseas employment support programs such as global field experiences and company visits to support local youth with passion and potential in their overseas advancement."
Meanwhile, since 2020, Mokpo University has annually selected 24 local talents and provided education to improve language and job skills necessary for overseas employment, then matched them with excellent companies related to their majors in the United States, supporting local employment for one year through the J1 visa.
The 2023 Jeollanam-do Youth Overseas Employment Support Project is scheduled to finalize and announce detailed plans, including the number of trainees, next month. Current students and graduates interested in overseas employment can apply to the Talent Development Center at Mokpo University within the application period (August 7 to September 7).
