Eonju Lee: "Supreme Council Member? How Long Will the Kim Gi-hyeon Regime Last?"

Former Lawmaker Ianju's KBS Radio Interview
"Disciplinary Action Against Two Supreme Council Members... Kim Gi-hyun Leadership Impact"

Although candidate registration for the by-election to select a successor to former People Power Party Supreme Council member Tae Young-ho has begun, interest remains low. Former People Power Party lawmaker Lee Eon-ju pointed out, "There are talks that it seems insufficient to fight the general election."

On the 30th, Lee appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs' and said, "'How long will the Kim Ki-hyun regime last?' is a question being raised. There are talks that it might shift to a provisional committee," adding, "The fact that two Supreme Council members have left like this is a major blow to the Kim Ki-hyun leadership."

Eonju Lee: "Supreme Council Member? How Long Will the Kim Gi-hyeon Regime Last?" Former People Power Party lawmaker Lee Eon-ju.

He said, "If the traffic is organized by a significant figure, it should be seen as a declaration of intent to 'go to the end with this leadership,'" but left room for interpretation by adding, "However, if it is not that and just a vague or formal appointment," implying that if it becomes a formal appointment, this leadership might not last until the end.

Lee said, "I don't think the Kim Ki-hyun leadership itself has independence, the possibility of exercising party authority, or even candidate nomination. Wasn't there controversy over pro-Yoon factions and Yoon's influence? I think practically everything is done from Yongsan."

Lee also pointed out, "The recording involving former Supreme Council member Tae Young-ho remains suspicious. What meaning does a Supreme Council member have in this state?" He continued, "There may be people who want to add Supreme Council experience to their resume, but would such people be helpful from the party's perspective?"

Lee said, "(From the leadership's standpoint) they have to appoint pro-Yoon figures, but it would be problematic if the pro-Yoon color is revealed ahead of the general election. They are in a very difficult dilemma," adding, "Also, if not a pro-Yoon figure, who would readily volunteer in this situation? From the perspective of someone who looks at politics long-term and far ahead, they don't know how long this leadership will last, it was a leadership with Yoon's influence controversy, and it could be embroiled in other disputes."

He then added, "I think politically, everyone might be thinking not to run."
