Kyungil University, Daegu Catholic University, and Daegu University Alliance to Promote 'Gyeongbuk Glocal University'

Shared Use of Human and Material Resources

As a Measure to Overcome the Crisis of Regional Universities

Kyungil University (President Jeong Hyuntae), Daegu Catholic University (President Seong Hangi), and Daegu University (President Park Sunjin) signed an agreement on the 26th at the main building of Daegu Catholic University to promote Gyeongbuk Glocal University (GGU).


The three universities agreed to form Gyeongbuk Glocal University to smoothly carry out the Ministry of Education’s Glocal University 30 project and to mutually cooperate to become a world-class consortium university leading regional industry innovation and the cultivation of local talent.


According to this agreement, once Gyeongbuk Glocal University is launched, it will become the largest consortium university in Korea with 47,000 enrolled students.

Kyungil University, Daegu Catholic University, and Daegu University Alliance to Promote 'Gyeongbuk Glocal University' Daegu University, Daegu Catholic University, and Kyungil University have joined forces to overcome the crisis faced by regional universities by signing a business agreement to promote the Gyeongbuk Glocal University.

To this end, the universities promised to jointly utilize their human and physical resources, share content such as curricula, industry-academia cooperation, and lifelong education, mutually cooperate on exchanges and major projects, and jointly provide domestic and international field training, internships, and employment opportunities.


Jeong Hyuntae, President of Kyungil University, said, “It is significant that the three universities, established based on the philosophy of humanity and philanthropy in the Hayang area of Gyeongsan City, have joined hands. If we cooperate by leveraging each university’s strengths, we will be able to overcome the crisis faced by regional universities.”


Seong Hangi, President of Daegu Catholic University, said, “We expect this agreement to be a cornerstone not only for the development of the three universities but also for the advancement of our local community and balanced national development. We will strive to create a better future by walking together with neighboring universities and the local community.”


Park Sunjin, President of Daegu University, said, “During the process of promoting this agreement, we were able to newly discover the capabilities and potential of the three universities. If the resources each university possesses are effectively shared, students will have broader and higher-quality educational opportunities, and universities will be able to find new breakthroughs to overcome crises.”
