The judiciary of Chile in South America brought the famous character Darth Vader from the movie 'Star Wars' to court in order to broaden the public's understanding of the courts and the judicial system.

On the 29th (local time), according to the Chilean daily El Mercurio and Latin American media Infobae, Darth Vader appeared in a court in the port city of Valpara?so, located 120 km from the capital Santiago. The Chilean judiciary held this unique trial to mark Heritage Day.

In this trial, assuming Darth Vader was the defendant, actual judges and lawyers from the judiciary took their seats and engaged in legal arguments.

Darth Vader was charged with cutting off Luke Skywalker's hand during a lightsaber duel, one of the iconic scenes from Star Wars, local media reported. This duel led to the famous line "I'm your father," which left a strong impression on many movie fans.

A person dressed as Darth Vader appeared in court as the defendant and participated in the trial alongside their defense attorney.

The prosecution stated, "The defendant acted completely maliciously," and requested a 'weapon freezing sentence.' In response, the defense appealed, saying, "I am not asking for leniency for my client, but please consider that he is a human being with rights and also the father of the victim."

About 100 people, including children, filled the gallery. Due to a shortage of seats provided by the court, some sat on the floor, watching attentively.

In this trial, Darth Vader was sentenced to 30 years of freezing, a minimum ban on approaching his son Luke Skywalker on at least three planets, and a lifetime ban on using a lightsaber, as an act of 'judicial mercy.'

Maria del Rosario Rabin, the presiding judge of the Valpara?so court who conducted the trial, said, "From my experience facing countless criminal defendants, the existence of someone like Darth Vader is not new," and added, "I hope the daily work of the court in realizing justice can come closer to the public."
