Research Alom analyzed on the 30th that SPC Systems is expected to receive new orders due to Hyundai Motor Group's expansion of electric vehicle factories. SPC Systems is a company that develops and sells gantry robot-based automation systems and smart factory solutions.
Researcher Lee Seung-hwan of Research Alom introduced, "Gantry robots move along orthogonal axes represented by X, Y, and Z from a fixed position," adding, "These robots mainly perform transfer and loading tasks." He further explained, "Compared to other industrial robots, they enable mass production and can be used for assembling parts and devices in large factories."
He emphasized, "In the past, they were applied in automobile factories to transfer heavy parts at high speed," and added, "Recently, due to diversification of demand industries, their application has expanded to various sectors such as secondary batteries, defense, construction, shipbuilding, and food." Additionally, he explained, "SPC Systems entered the automotive industry based on a high-speed gantry robot successfully localized through independent development," and "They have secured major customers including Hyundai Kia Motors and GM."
The researcher analyzed, "Hyundai Motor Group has significantly revised its mid-to-long-term electric vehicle sales plan, aiming for over 4 million electric vehicle sales by 2030," and "They also plan to accelerate the expansion of electric vehicle production capacity and diversification of bases." He expected, "Even if only 30% of the robot automation systems for Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle factories are ordered, sales of 50 billion KRW can be anticipated."
He stated, "Currently, they are receiving development proposals from numerous domestic and international battery companies and are supplying or developing prototypes," and "They plan to simultaneously supply can and cap assemblies (Cap Ass’y)." He further explained, "If approximately 7 billion KRW of semi-mass production investment is completed within this year, they can immediately switch to mass production," and "They plan to establish a mass production system through additional investments next year."
The researcher predicted, "If one production line among the battery companies they are collaborating with enters mass production, at least 10 million sets can be produced annually," and "Within the next two years, the sales of the battery division will grow to more than twice the sales of the robotics and smart factory division based on last year's figures."
