Hyundai Glovis Obtains Certification for Lithium Battery Transportation

Hyundai Glovis announced on the 30th that it has obtained lithium battery air transport certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This certification verifies the transportation expertise of companies within the lithium battery air logistics supply chain.

At the certification award ceremony held on the 25th, Hyundai Glovis, together with the domestic air-logistics industry, acquired hazardous materials air transport quality certification in the lithium battery sector. Through this lithium battery air transport certification, the company plans to provide specialized air logistics services for the electric vehicle battery market.

Hyundai Glovis has been striving to expand related businesses, including obtaining a specialized patent in 2021. This patent is for a ‘platform container’ that can carry used batteries of different shapes depending on the electric vehicle model in a single container. The container size can be freely adjusted, allowing it to accommodate batteries from various models.

A Hyundai Glovis official stated, “Based on stable revenue generation through existing automobile logistics, we plan to secure additional growth momentum in new strategic businesses such as battery logistics to enhance corporate value.”
