Geumcheon-gu Operates '24-Hour Rapid Response' Disaster Safety Situation Room

Geumcheon-gu Operates '24-Hour Rapid Response' Disaster Safety Situation Room

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has installed and is operating a Disaster Safety Situation Room to respond to various disaster situations 24 hours a day under the slogan "Safety First Geumcheon, Safe Everyday City."

Previously, disaster situations were managed in the district office duty room, but now a separate space has been established as a situation room to strengthen the role of the disaster control tower.

First, three disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) devices were installed in the Disaster Safety Situation Room, and the closed-circuit (CC)TV control system was linked to enable sharing of photos and videos from disaster sites.

Along with this, the National Disaster Management System (NDMS) and video conferencing system were established to allow rapid situation sharing and countermeasure preparation in case of disaster occurrence.

Additionally, three dedicated personnel and 25 employees from the Resident Safety Division work in shifts to maintain 24-hour monitoring, enhancing disaster response capabilities.

In the second half of the year, the plan is to build a Smart Seoul Safety Network by linking the control center’s video information with Seoul City, enabling real-time joint response with related agencies such as fire and police in case of emergencies.

Besides this, the district is focusing its capabilities on disaster prevention and response by promoting ▲reorganization of the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters system ▲strengthening crowd management safety measures ▲expanding disaster response training.

In particular, despite large crowds gathering during the recording of the National Singing Contest Geumcheon-gu episode in April and the Geumcheon-gu Harmony Festival in May, the events were completed without accidents due to systematic response and close cooperation with the fire station and police station.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I believe it is an important responsibility of local governments to protect the lives and property of residents from disasters,” and added, “We will do our best to create a safe city Geumcheon that prioritizes residents’ safety.”
