Gwanak-gu to Visit 25 Elementary, Middle, and High Schools by June 29 to Hear Parents' and Schools' Opinions
Support to Resolve School and Local Issues... Realizing Communication and Empathy in Administration
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, is giving a greeting at Gwanakcheong (Munyeong Girls' High School), a program that visits schools.
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is operating ‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools’ targeting 25 schools in the district to listen to diverse and vivid voices from the school field.
‘Gwanak Office Visiting Schools,’ which has been ongoing for three years since 2021, is an occasion where the mayor personally visits schools in the area to meet school officials and parents, listen directly to school and local issues on-site, and seek solutions.
This year, starting with Munyeong Girls' High School on May 25, visits will be made to 6 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, and 11 high schools until June 29, to collect various opinions and difficulties for the development of public education and the local community.
Until last year, Gwanak-gu supported a total of 49 schools?16 elementary, 18 middle, and 15 high schools?addressing 365 suggestions and daily life complaints, and provided a total of 4.2 billion KRW in educational expenses for school environment improvement projects.
Major educational expense support includes ▲improvements to cafeterias and computer rooms ▲replacement of playground drainage and water fountain piping ▲creation of ecological transition education learning spaces ▲installation of heating and cooling systems in gymnasiums.
Additionally, the district actively addressed requests requiring cooperation from the district office, such as ▲parking enforcement on school routes ▲illegal dumping crackdowns ▲sidewalk block maintenance ▲CCTV expansion.
Along with this, the district expanded educational expenses by 8 billion KRW this year to support various programs reflecting school demands, such as student psychological and emotional support and school violence prevention education. Newly introduced this year, the ‘AI-based Coding and 4th Industrial Revolution Future Talent Training Education’ and the ‘School Specialized Space Creation’ project to foster creativity have received great responses.
Mayor Park Junhee said, “We will continue to create opportunities for ongoing communication with schools and strive to build a quality educational environment where students can nurture and realize their dreams.”
