The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters donated funds collected bit by bit to the Gyeonggi-do Community Chest of Korea on the 24th.
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will provide a total of 30 million KRW to 10 vulnerable households.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 30th that, in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest, they recently selected the first 10 households to receive support under the 'Warm Companionship Gyeonggi 119' program.
All recipients are economically disadvantaged, such as basic livelihood security recipients, who have lost their homes due to disasters like fires or are in urgent need of assistance due to severe injuries or disabilities. Among the selected households, 6 suffered fire damage, and 4 have members with severe disabilities.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters selected the recipients through a review process based on recommendations from frontline fire stations.
Cho Sun-ho, head of the Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, "Just holding hands during times of pain and hardship can be comforting. Although the support may be small, I hope people do not forget that there are neighbors who care for them." He added, "I am grateful to the firefighters and volunteer fire brigade members who willingly participate in this meaningful donation."
'Warm Companionship Gyeonggi 119' is a project where Gyeonggi-do firefighters and volunteer fire brigade members voluntarily contribute 1,190 KRW daily to create a fund that helps neighbors in difficult circumstances.
Since its launch in December last year, approximately 80 million KRW has been raised over six months until May. The Fire and Disaster Headquarters plans to select the second group of recipients in July.
