'Dear, My Planet' Event on Environment Day
'Reals Experience Center' Operated at Lotte World Mall
5,000 Appreciation Gifts Made by Recycling Banners and Cooler Bags
Lotte Department Store announced on the 30th that it will launch a themed event with an eco-friendly message called 'Dear, My Planet.'
From June 1 to August 17, various pop-up stores, exhibitions, and events centered on the environment will be held. The interior and exterior of the department store will be decorated with the motif of the bee, an insect that serves as an indicator of environmental destruction. The ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) campaign 'Reals,' which marks its first anniversary this year, plans to raise awareness of the importance of the environment through eco-friendly themed events from early June, when the vacation season begins, until mid-August, when the peak vacation period ends. Through this 'Dear, My Planet' event, the message that people's interest and active participation in the environment is the first step to saving the Earth will be conveyed.
From June 2 to 18, a large 'Reals Experience Center' will be operated at the Atrium Plaza on the 1st floor of Jamsil Lotte World Mall. Along with the sale of upcycled products themed on eco-friendliness, eco-friendly artwork exhibitions and events will take place. Five brands representing miscellaneous goods, beauty, fashion, and lifestyle will participate in the pop-up zone. 'Nugak,' which collaborates with Lotte Department Store on upcycling, will sell Reals campaign goods and tote bags made using discarded tires. The upcycling-specialized beauty brand 'FOW' will sell hand wash and body wash products made by recycling almond shells discarded from almond farms in California. The street casual brand 'MMLG' will collaborate with 'Customwise' to sell limited-edition chairs made using clothing and accessories.
In the exhibition zone, works made from various everyday waste materials such as discarded exterior banners from Lotte Department Store, discarded fishing nets, and waste textiles will be displayed, and a special video showcasing the Reals campaign activities will be screened. An environmental quiz event will be held at the service desk near the entrance, offering customers who answer three or more questions correctly the opportunity to create an upcycled keyring. A 'photo zone' will also be operated continuously.
In addition to Lotte World Mall, other stores will also present unique eco-friendly events based on customer participation. At the Dongtan branch, a 'Children's Flea Market' event themed on eco-friendliness will be held on June 3 at the 3rd-floor terrace event hall. Face painting and treasure hunt events will also be held for children and accompanying families visiting the event venue. Additionally, the Dongtan branch plans to hold an eco-friendly pop-up store and a running crew event with a plogging theme.
During the themed period, 'upcycled appreciation gifts' will be given based on purchase amounts. Four thousand gift cooler bags collected during the Lunar New Year holiday in February and 17 large banners that hung on the department store’s exterior in March were recycled to produce 4,000 picnic cooler bags and 1,000 picnic mats. Customers who purchase more than 200,000 won by June 18 will receive a picnic cooler bag on a first-come, first-served basis, and customers who certify their 'self-plogging' on social networking services (SNS) will be entered into a draw to receive a picnic mat.
