On the 29th, the National Security Office held an emergency Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Cho Tae-yong, the Director of the National Security Office, regarding North Korea's notification of a satellite launch.
The National Security Office reported the related details to President Yoon Suk-yeol. At the NSC level, they received a situation report from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and discussed response measures. Attendees included Director Cho, Foreign Minister Park Jin, Unification Minister Kwon Young-se, Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup, National Intelligence Service Director Kim Kyu-hyun, NSC Secretariat Chief Kim Tae-hyo, and Deputy Director of the National Security Office Lim Jong-deuk.
Through a press release, the National Security Office stated, "The government is closely monitoring the related developments and will announce the government's position through the Foreign Ministry spokesperson."
On the same day, Kyodo News reported that the Japan Coast Guard received notification from North Korea of a satellite launch scheduled between 0:00 on the 31st and 0:00 on the 11th of next month.
