Korean tourists who had been stranded in Guam due to the "super typhoon" Mawar will begin their journey home starting the afternoon of the 29th.
According to the aviation industry, with the reopening of Guam International Airport operations at 3 PM (local time at departure and arrival locations) on the same day, substitute and regular flights of four national airlines will commence operations.
Korean Air will operate two substitute flights as previously announced to expedite passenger transport. On the 29th, a substitute flight departing Guam at 7 PM and arriving in Incheon at 10:45 PM will operate. The aircraft used will be a large Boeing 777-300 with 338 seats. An additional substitute flight departing Guam at 12 AM on the 30th and arriving in Incheon at 3:45 AM will be scheduled, using an A330-300 with a total of 276 seats. Furthermore, on the 30th, two regular flights between Incheon and Guam will resume, with one of these flights changing from the usual Boeing 737-800 with 138 seats to a Boeing 777-300 to help tourists return home faster. The other flight will operate as usual with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft with 272 seats.
Jeju Air will resume operations on the Incheon-Guam round-trip and Busan-Guam round-trip flights on the 29th and has added one additional Incheon-Guam round-trip flight. Guam departure flights to Incheon are scheduled for 5:10 PM and 5:50 PM on the 29th, and 3:05 AM on the 30th. The Guam departure flight to Busan is scheduled for 3:45 AM on the 30th.
T’way Air and Jin Air will urgently deploy substitute flights to ensure swift transportation. T’way Air has arranged three substitute round-trip flights between Incheon and Guam. Flights to Incheon are scheduled for 6 PM on the 29th, 1 AM, and 1 PM on the 30th. The aircraft used will be three Boeing 737-800s with 189 seats each. Jin Air has deployed substitute flights on the Incheon-Guam (2 flights) and Busan-Guam (1 flight) round-trip routes. Guam departure flights to Incheon are scheduled for 5 PM on the 29th and 4:55 AM on the 30th, and the flight to Busan is scheduled for 4:20 AM on the 30th.
