On the 25th, the final session of the 2023 On-site District Mayor’s Office ‘TALK: Let’s Speak Openly’ was held with the theme of ‘Autonomy’

A communication event was organized with about 300 residents, including Dong Resident Autonomy Committee members, to discuss ‘Seongbuk-style Resident Autonomy Operation’

From May 8 to 25, the On-site District Mayor’s Office was held in five sessions focusing on the themes of ▲Child Happiness ▲Youth ▲Community ▲Welfare ▲Autonomy

Resident proposals were discussed and opinions shared through open chat rooms and live YouTube streaming

Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) operated the On-site District Mayor’s Office on the 25th at Seoul Seongbuk Media Culture Maru with the theme of ‘Autonomy’.

Thus, the ‘2023 On-site District Mayor’s Office TALK: Let’s Speak Openly,’ held in five sessions by theme from the 8th to the 25th, was successfully concluded.

At the final session of the On-site District Mayor’s Office that day, about 300 residents including Dong Resident Autonomy Committee members, Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu, and related department heads participated. They had a communication session to listen to each other’s opinions and find solutions together to establish a solid foundation for ‘Seongbuk-style Resident Autonomy Operation.’

Before the main discussion, Mayor Lee Seung-ro and four Resident Autonomy Committee chairpersons appeared on stage holding placards each inscribed with the words ‘Resident,’ ‘Autonomy,’ ‘Flower,’ ‘Will,’ and ‘Bloom.’ Together, they shouted “Let the flower of resident autonomy bloom,” conveying their determination to revitalize ‘Seongbuk-style Resident Autonomy’ to the residents.

Five resident proposals submitted in advance through online and offline channels were discussed. These included ▲requests to establish a platform for activating resident autonomy ▲holding competitions by subcommittees to invigorate each subcommittee ▲promotion of Resident Autonomy Committee workshops ▲customized resident autonomy education for children and adolescents ▲administrative advisory support when proposing resident autonomy project plans. Participants shared concerns and listened to Mayor Lee Seung-ro’s responses to promote resident autonomy activities in Seongbuk-gu.

After the discussion on resident proposals, a Q&A session followed where even more diverse topics were heard. On-site proposals included ‘adjusting the composition ratio of Resident Autonomy Committee members’ and ‘requests to improve the cramped office space for resident autonomy.’ It was a time for residents to candidly share their concerns and difficulties experienced during resident autonomy activities.

Mayor Lee Seung-ro led the discussion while monitoring residents’ opinions and reactions posted in real-time on the ‘open chat room.’ He expressed gratitude to residents who actively sent their opinions and continued vigorous activities to promote resident autonomy. He also promised support for resident autonomy activities at the district office level.

The ‘2023 On-site District Mayor’s Office TALK: Let’s Speak Openly’ was operated in the form of thematic talk concerts where the district mayor and residents engaged in in-depth discussions on five themes: ▲Child Happiness ▲Youth ▲Community ▲Welfare ▲Resident Autonomy, departing from the previous method of operating by Dong (neighborhood).

In addition to 33 resident proposals submitted in advance, 18 agenda items proposed on the spot were also discussed. True to the slogan ‘TALK: Let’s Speak Openly,’ communication between Mayor Lee Seung-ro and participants took place in an honest and comfortable atmosphere. The open chat room, operated alongside the On-site District Mayor’s Office, became a new communication platform allowing free exchange of opinions among participants, receiving great response from residents.
