Homeplus Sees Up to 181% Increase in Character Product Sales Targeting Kidults

Sanrio Characters, Jjanggu and Other Character Goods Gain Popularity

Homeplus announced on the 29th that sales in the children's bedding category this month, led by 'Sanrio Characters,' increased by 181% compared to the same period last year.

Homeplus analyzed that character products captivated the hearts of 'kidults' (kids + adults) customers, resulting in a special sales boost.


As another indication, Homeplus cited that sales in the tableware category this month grew by 71% compared to the same period last year, thanks to the launch on the 8th of 25 types of 'Crayon Shin-chan' tableware ahead of the release of the movie 'Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Animal Summoning Ninja Belly Button Defense Squad.'


Homeplus also explained that the 'Daiso Disney Character Shop,' available since the 12th at Hwaseong Hyangnam Branch, is popular. Sales from May 15 to 21 increased by 60% compared to the same period last year before the Disney Character Shop was established.


Homeplus stated that having confirmed customer demand and interest in character shops, they plan to gradually expand character uniform price shops in the future.
