The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 29th that it will hold the second briefing session on the basic plan for Gadeokdo New Airport on the 2nd of next month.

Based on the results of land and marine ground surveys and measurements of the project site, the plan is to promptly share information related to the Gadeokdo New Airport construction project, such as airport zone boundaries and major construction phases, with the industry to effectively review the application of new construction methods and technologies.
The briefing session will present the achievements of the basic plan establishment service so far and proceed with on-site Q&A, including questions pre-submitted by participating companies. Applications for participation and pre-submitted questions can be received through the relevant city/provincial chapters of the Korea Construction Association, and materials presented at the briefing will be available for download later on the association’s website.
The Gadeokdo New Airport construction project is being promoted according to the special law promulgated in March 2021. The preliminary feasibility study was exempted in April last year, and in March this year, the Ministry of Economy and Finance completed the review of the project plan’s appropriateness. The ongoing basic plan establishment service, valued at 15.8 billion KRW, is being carried out by the Yushin Consortium. The airport is scheduled to open in December 2029.
Park Ji-hong, head of the Gadeokdo New Airport Construction Promotion Team at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "Since the role of the industry is important to open Gadeokdo New Airport on time, we plan to communicate by promptly sharing project-related information in line with the progress of the basic plan establishment," adding, "We ask for the construction industry’s active interest and participation."
