Six out of ten Japanese people evaluated that Prime Minister Fumio Kishida demonstrated leadership at the recent Group of Seven (G7) summit.
Kyodo News reported on the 28th that in a telephone survey conducted from the 27th to the 28th, 62.3% of respondents said that Prime Minister Kishida showed leadership as the chair of the G7 summit.
However, the approval rating of the cabinet led by Kishida rose only 0.4 percentage points from the previous month to 47.0%. The percentage of those who do not support the Kishida cabinet also increased by 0.4 percentage points to 35.9%.
In Japanese politics, there is speculation that Prime Minister Kishida may dissolve the House of Representatives early and hold a general election.
In this survey, 60.6% of respondents opposed dissolving the House of Representatives before the end of the parliamentary session on the 21st of next month. Those who believed the House should be dissolved within the session accounted for 30.2%.
Seventy percent of respondents expressed anxiety about the expanded use of the "My Number Card," an identification card similar to South Korea's resident registration card. The Japanese government is planning to integrate the My Number Card with health insurance cards. However, concerns about personal information leaks have resulted in a low issuance rate.
