At around 2 p.m. that day, Kim left the Geumcheon Police Station in Seoul and responded to reporters' questions asking, "Do you have anything to say to the victim?" by saying, "I am truly sorry. I will live a life of atonement." When asked if he had planned the crime in advance, he said, "I did not want to do that."

He did not answer the question about the motive for the killing and got into the transport vehicle, heading to the Seoul Southern District Court. Judge Lee So-jin of the Seoul Southern District Court plans to interrogate Kim at 3 p.m. and decide on his detention within the day.

According to the police, Kim is accused of killing his partner, a woman identified as A (47), with a weapon he had prepared in advance at an underground parking lot of a commercial building in Siheung-dong, Geumcheon-gu, at 7:17 a.m. on the 26th. Earlier that day, at 5:37 a.m., Kim was investigated for assault following a report by A, and after returning home at 6:11 a.m., he went to find A and committed the crime.

Kim fled immediately after the crime but was caught by the police at an empty lot in Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province, at 3:25 p.m., about eight hours later. At that time, A's body was found in the back seat of the vehicle.

During the police investigation, Kim admitted all charges, stating that he committed the crime out of anger because A reported him. The police applied the charge of retaliatory murder under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and requested an arrest warrant. The police plan to perform an autopsy on A's body on the 30th to determine the exact cause and time of death.
