Asiana Airlines to Suspend Sales of Emergency Exit Row Seats Starting from the 28th

Applicable Only to Accident Aircraft Models and Same Model Aircraft

Asiana Airlines, which experienced an incident where the aircraft door was open during landing, will stop selling seats in front of the emergency exits on the same aircraft model starting from the 28th.

Asiana Airlines announced that from 12:00 AM on the day, it has completely suspended the sale of seats in front of the emergency exits on the A321-200 aircraft model involved in the incident. This applies even when the flight is fully booked. The duration of this suspension has not been determined.

The suspended seats are 26A seats on the A321-200 (11 aircraft) operated with 174 seats, and 31A seats on the A321-200 (3 aircraft) operated with 195 seats. The passenger who opened the door on the incident aircraft was seated in seat 31A on the 195-seat aircraft.

However, other aircraft models operated by Asiana Airlines will continue to sell seats in front of the emergency exits as before. Airlines sell seats near emergency exits at higher prices because the space in front and behind these seats is wider than other seats.

Earlier, on the 26th, a passenger named Lee (33) caused a disturbance by opening the emergency exit door and hanging on the wall just before landing on an Asiana Airlines flight from Jeju Airport to Daegu Airport, causing passengers to be terrified until the moment of landing. The police arrested Lee on charges of violating the Aviation Security Act and other offenses and applied for an arrest warrant.
