Employee Mistakes Table... Pays for Another Customer's Meal
Owner Says, "I Got Angry After Consecutive Eat-and-Run Incidents... Sorry"
The so-called '90,000 won dine-and-dash' incident that recently occurred at a sashimi restaurant in Incheon was revealed to be a misunderstanding caused by an employee's billing error.
According to a Yonhap News report on the 27th, on the evening of the 24th around 7 PM, A and two others visited a sashimi restaurant located in Seo-gu, Incheon, and dined at an outdoor table for about three hours. About 20 minutes before leaving the restaurant, they handed over a card to pay approximately 90,000 won for their meal, but the restaurant staff confused the table and processed the payment for another customer's bill. As a result, the payment terminal showed that A and the others' meal had not been paid, leading the owner, B, to mistakenly believe that the customers had fled without paying and reported the incident to the police the next day.
In a phone interview with Yonhap News on the same day, B said, "I only reviewed 5 to 10 minutes of CCTV footage and mistakenly thought that A and the others left without paying," adding, "Due to the restaurant's fault, innocent customers suffered damages."

Earlier, after reporting A's party to the police, B also posted the CCTV footage showing them on an online community. The post has since been deleted, and B issued an apology. In the apology, he stated, "Having experienced consecutive dine-and-dash incidents and being mentally distressed, I wrote the post in a moment of anger without realizing it would spread like this," and "I sincerely apologize to the victims."
The police, who initially registered the case as 'dine-and-dash,' plan to close the case as 'no charges' if the investigation confirms that A and the others properly paid for their meal.
