The Anamdong Residents' Autonomy Committee (Chairman Jeong Chan-gyun) in Seongbuk-gu recently visited elderly households with organizing and storage experts trained through a residents' autonomy project to carry out volunteer organizing and storage activities.

Since April, the Anamdong Residents' Autonomy Committee has operated an ‘Organizing and Storage Expert Training Course’ program over eight sessions for 35 residents. Some participants proposed organizing and storage volunteer work to contribute to the local community by applying the knowledge and skills they gained through the program.

The Anamdong Residents' Autonomy Committee accepted the proposal and visited the homes of elderly welfare recipients with limited mobility to organize their houses together with the organizing and storage experts.

The elderly households lacked sufficient storage space, causing items to pile up inside the homes. Scattered medicine packets were organized into one place to facilitate proper intake and management. Considering the elderly residents' limited mobility, existing storage units were adjusted to lower positions. Additionally, organizing supplies were brought in to neatly store the items that had been scattered throughout the house.

One participant said, “I feel very proud to volunteer by applying what I learned. Although organizing the entire house for four hours was challenging, seeing the elderly person happy afterward gave me energy and joy.”

Jeong Chan-gyun, chairman of the Anamdong Residents' Autonomy Committee, stated, “I feel great fulfillment that the results of the organizing and storage expert training project, selected by residents' vote, are being returned to the local community. Going forward, the Anamdong Residents' Autonomy Committee will do its best to discover and promote projects that help residents in their daily lives.”
