From the 30th, NongHyup Bank Hwasun County Branch and Local NongHyup
Hwasun County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that it will begin distributing the Public Interest Allowance for Farmers and Fishermen through the NongHyup Bank Hwasun County Branch and local NongHyup offices starting from the 30th.
The county plans to provide 600,000 KRW worth of Hwasun Love Gift Certificates (entirely in 10,000 KRW denominations) per person to 8,767 farmers and fishermen, with a total payout amounting to 5.26 billion KRW.
Initially, the county finalized the recipients through the Public Interest Allowance Review Committee for Farmers and Fishermen on April 14 and intended to distribute the allowance within April.
However, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety revised the "2023 Local Love Gift Certificate Issuance Support Project Comprehensive Guidelines," mandating that franchise stores with annual sales exceeding 3 billion KRW only accept policy-issued gift certificates.
Accordingly, to facilitate convenience for farmers and fishermen, Hwasun County requested the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation to newly issue Hwasun Love Gift Certificates specifically for policy issuance to be used for the Public Interest Allowance payments.
Due to the considerable production time required, the distribution of the Public Interest Allowance for farmers and fishermen has been somewhat delayed.
The county plans to minimize inconvenience to farming households by mobilizing all administrative support to ensure the allowance is distributed promptly.
Eligibility for payment can be confirmed through the local administrative welfare centers in the recipient’s place of residence.
Eligible recipients can receive the Public Interest Allowance starting from the 30th by presenting their ID for verification at the local NongHyup offices or the NongHyup Bank Hwasun County Branch in their jurisdiction.
A county official stated, “By distributing the Hwasun Love Gift Certificates, we aim to prevent capital outflow from the region and activate the local economy through establishing a virtuous economic cycle within the community. We expect that providing the Public Interest Allowance will improve the quality of life for farmers and fishermen and realize sustainable agriculture and rural communities.”
