Welding and Piping Top Performers Offered Special Hiring Benefits for Production Technology Positions
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has taken the first step this year in training 1,000 specialized technical personnel for the shipbuilding industry.
On the 26th, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that it held the ‘1st Professional Technician Training Course Completion Ceremony’ at the Ulsan Technical Training Center, where a total of 100 people completed training in hull assembly (welding and fitting), ship piping, ship electrical, and ship machinery fields.
By field, 70 people completed smart ship technology (51 in hull assembly and 19 in ship piping), 17 in smart ship electrical, and 13 in smart ship machinery. Over approximately 10 weeks, they acquired the specialized skills and basic knowledge required in the field and obtained certifications.
The ‘Professional Technician Training Course’ at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Technical Training Center, operated for the first time this year, aims to train 1,000 technical personnel for the shipbuilding industry. It is a specialized education program recently tailored to changes in the shipbuilding industry environment, based on the previously operated ‘Technical Trainee Training Course.’

During the training period, trainees receive a monthly scholarship of 1 million KRW, including training allowances. Dormitories are provided free of charge for those residing outside Ulsan or in Ulju-gun. After employment in the shipbuilding industry, if the trainee moves their residence to Dong-gu, Ulsan, they can also receive a relocation settlement allowance of 3 million KRW.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to offer employment benefits by hiring outstanding graduates from the smart ship technology fields as production technology staff at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
An HD Hyundai Heavy Industries official stated, “The core to strengthening competitiveness in the shipbuilding industry is securing highly skilled technical talent,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to nurture technical talent based on specialized education.”
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will recruit trainees for the ‘Professional Technician Training Course’ five times this year. Applications for the 3rd course can be submitted through the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Technical Training Center website until the 16th of next month.
