The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 26th that there were 17,933 new confirmed COVID-19 cases (cumulative total of 31,629,442).
The number of new cases on this day decreased by 1,147 compared to the previous day (19,080). Compared to a week ago on the 19th (19,586), it decreased by 1,653. The number of new cases has been on a declining trend for the past eight days compared to the previous week.
Among the new confirmed cases, 28 were imported from overseas.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized increased by 7 from the previous day to 180.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths was 15, bringing the cumulative total to 34,751 (fatality rate 0.11%).
Meanwhile, starting next month, when the COVID-19 crisis alert level is lowered from 'Severe' to 'Caution,' the mandatory 7-day isolation for confirmed cases will change to a recommended 5-day isolation.
COVID-19 statistics, which were previously announced daily except on Sundays and holidays, will now be released on a weekly basis.
