Sing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to Korea, MBC Interview
"Hope to Strive for Maintaining Industrial and Supply Chains Between Korea and China"
"Oppose the Ocean Discharge of 1.3 Million Tons of Fukushima Contaminated Water"
Sing Haiming, the Chinese Ambassador to Korea, stated in an interview with MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' on the 26th, "Those with discernment will understand that the G7 is drawing ideological and value-based lines to provoke bloc confrontation, encouraging decoupling and supply chain disruptions, thereby destroying the international order," adding, "This goes against the flow of human history."
Ambassador Sing said, "The G7 summit adheres to bloc confrontation and Cold War thinking, greatly exaggerating and attacking China-related agendas and interfering in China's internal affairs," and added, "China does not believe the G7 can represent the international community. Nor does China believe that the rules and order the G7 advocates are the international rules and order."
Regarding Korea's role, Ambassador Sing made a request. He said, "It seems that some countries, including the United States, are artificially forming small groups and pushing for decoupling and supply chain disruptions against China. I hope Korea will maintain an objective and fair stance and the principles of a market economy, and work to ensure that the industrial and supply chains between the two countries remain stable and smoothly flowing."

Ambassador Sing explained that he conveyed these points during a recent meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho. He said, "China and Korea are eternal neighbors who cannot move away and inseparable close cooperative partners. This will never change."
However, Ambassador Sing candidly stated, "To be honest, the current China-Korea relationship is not good. I am concerned that it might worsen. I believe Koreans can feel this as well," adding, "I do not think the cause and responsibility lie with China. Whether neighbors or partners, the most important thing is mutual respect."
In particular, Ambassador Sing emphasized, "It is important to respect each other's vital core interests," and said, "I hope the Korean government will fully respect and consider China's core concerns regarding issues such as Taiwan and show consideration."
Ambassador Sing said, "The relationship between the two countries is currently somewhat difficult. Therefore, it would be greatly appreciated if Korea could reorganize its stance related to China, especially regarding Taiwan, and show consideration."
Meanwhile, when asked about China's position on Japan's discharge of contaminated water from Fukushima, Ambassador Sing stated, "We firmly oppose it."
Ambassador Sing said, "The contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant amounts to 1.3 million tons. It is an enormous amount," and questioned, "They plan to discharge this contaminated water over 30 years. How many radioactive substances do you think are in this contaminated water?"
Ambassador Sing added, "Wouldn't this cause infinite damage to the marine environment and our descendants? Therefore, the treatment of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water is absolutely not a private issue for Japan alone and must be handled very carefully," criticizing, "Japan unilaterally chose marine discharge without sufficient consultation with other stakeholders. This is a selfish act of shifting risk onto other countries."
