“Let Me Tell You About Ulleungdo!” … Ulleung-gun, Training Cultural Tourism Interpreters

On the 23rd, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, conducted the first training session for Ulleung Dongbaek Tour Guides as part of the Ulleung-gun Cultural Tourism Guide Intern Training Program.

From the 9th to the 16th, recruitment was open for Ulleung Dongbaek Tour Guides to those interested in the history, tourist resources, and cultural heritage of Ulleungdo and Dokdo, who reside on Ulleungdo as of the announcement date. Anyone meeting these criteria could apply to provide cultural, historical, and tourism-related guidance and interpretation services to tourists visiting Ulleungdo.

Ulleung County conducted Ulleung Dongbaek Guide training as an internship program for cultural tourism interpreters.

If trainees complete more than 80% of the six-week training course starting on the 23rd, they will be issued a certificate and be eligible to participate in activities. Although the initial recruitment target was 15 people, more than 20 applied.

As the number of tourists, which had sharply decreased due to COVID-19, increases with the return to normal life, the role of Ulleung Dongbaek Tour Guides is expected to gradually expand.

Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, expressed gratitude to the trainees who applied and said, “I hope they will properly introduce our island to tourists visiting Ulleung.”
