Gmarket was highly evaluated for building a distribution platform that grows together with various partners, from small and medium-sized merchants to big brand companies, through win-win management. In particular, leveraging the strengths of the open market, which has a low entry barrier allowing anyone to easily buy and sell goods, it actively supported market development and sales activation as a major sales channel for more than 600,000 sellers, including small and medium-sized merchants.
Since 2009, Gmarket has been conducting the online fair 'e-Marketing Fair,' which comprehensively showcases excellent products including agricultural and marine products from small and medium-sized merchants and local producers nationwide every year. Additionally, over the past 14 years until last year, products from more than 13,500 sellers nationwide have been traded through the event. The institutional partnership project, which first opened in 2011 with the participation of about 70 local governments, saw a 305% increase in the number of local small merchants participating last year compared to the previous year.
Jeon Hang-il, CEO of Gmarket, said, “As Korea’s first e-commerce leading company to establish an open market platform, Gmarket allows anyone to form partnerships regardless of whether they are sellers or distributors, creating an opportunity where everyone can grow together. We will continue to fulfill our role as a win-win platform by preparing various collaboration processes and support programs.”
