According to the county on the 25th, the vaccination targets are immunocompromised individuals aged 12 and over who have completed the bivalent vaccine, and elderly people aged 65 and over who are recommended for vaccination based on medical judgment.

This additional vaccination was decided after reviewing the recent quarantine situation, vaccine effectiveness, and duration of immunity, considering the prevention of severe illness and death and disease burden in immunocompromised individuals who have lower immune acquisition and shorter duration of acquired immunity compared to healthy adults. Therefore, the additional vaccination is limited to immunocompromised individuals aged 12 and over and elderly people aged 65 and over.

Vaccination is possible 3 months after the last vaccination date (6 months after is recommended), and the vaccines used are BA.4/5-based bivalent vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna). For those contraindicated for mRNA vaccines or who do not wish to receive mRNA vaccines, recombinant vaccines such as Novavax and SKYCovione are also available.

Ahn Jinhwa, Director of the Health Center, said, “Our top priority is to prevent severe illness and death among high-risk groups due to COVID-19, and we are fully ensuring that vaccinations can be carried out.” She added, “We ask high-risk groups such as immunocompromised individuals to actively participate in this vaccination.”
