Discussion on Solutions and Sharing of Best Administrative Practices on Common Issues of Seven Major City Central Districts
Since the First Meeting in 1996, Addressing Common Problems Such as Urban Hollowing and Decline of Old Downtown Commercial Areas
The '33rd National Association of District Mayors of Major City Central Districts' will be held on the 31st in Jung-gu, Seoul. Seven major city central districts located in the heart of major cities nationwide gather in Jung-gu, Seoul to discuss common issues.
Attendees include Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu, Seoul; Choi Jin-bong, Mayor of Jung-gu, Busan Metropolitan City; Ryu Gyu-ha, Mayor of Jung-gu, Daegu Metropolitan City; Kim Jeong-heon, Mayor of Jung-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City; Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City; Kim Gwang-shin, Mayor of Jung-gu, Daejeon Metropolitan City; Kim Young-gil, Mayor of Jung-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City; and related officials.
These district mayors, who lead regional development in major city central districts, seek solutions to common problems such as urban hollowing and decline of old downtown industries, and share excellent administrative cases currently being promoted in each district.
At the meeting, after introducing key projects promoted by the seven central cities, in-depth discussions will continue through Q&A sessions. The presentations by each district mayor are as follows.

After the main meeting, the district mayors will conclude the schedule by touring Jeong-dong Modern History Street, a tourist attraction in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The National Association of District Mayors of Major City Central Districts has held its 33rd meeting this year since the first meeting on June 7, 1996, in Jung-gu, Seoul. To jointly address common problems of old downtowns such as urban hollowing and decline of old downtown commercial areas, the association has actively worked on 95 issues proposed to the central government, including ▷Enactment of the Special Act for Revitalization of Old Downtown Areas ▷Deregulation and Special Act for Major City Central Districts ▷Measures to strengthen the financial capacity of major city autonomous districts.
Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, "The problems faced by major city central districts are not issues of those areas alone. The role of the National Association of District Mayors of Major City Central Districts is significant for the harmonious development of the entire country," and added, "The seven central districts will continue to pool wisdom and jointly address common issues."
