Climate Industry International Expo from 25th to 27th, Featuring 3 Key Themes
Promoting Busan City's Carbon Neutrality Policy to Global Expo Participants
Busan City will operate the ‘Busan Carbon Neutral Policy Promotion Center’ for three days from the 25th to the 27th at BEXCO, where the ‘Climate Industry International Expo’ is being held.
This Carbon Neutral Policy Promotion Center was established to promote Busan’s excellent carbon neutral policies to the global participants of the ‘Climate Industry International Expo,’ the largest domestic event in the climate and energy sector, as Busan is a candidate city for hosting the 2030 World Expo.
Located in BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2, the Carbon Neutral Policy Promotion Center is composed of three main themes: ▲City Carbon Neutral Policy Promotion Zone ▲Sector-specific Carbon Neutral Policy Briefings ▲Busan City Support Project Consultation Zone.
In the City Carbon Neutral Policy Promotion Zone, visitors can see Busan’s greenhouse gas emission status, carbon neutral promotion vision and strategies, major projects, and the future vision of Busan as a carbon neutral city, showcasing the city’s capabilities as a leading carbon neutral city at a glance.
The sector-specific Carbon Neutral Policy Briefings will be held at 2 p.m. on the 25th and 26th, where experts in water, waste, carbon sinks, and air sectors will give lectures on carbon neutral policies.
At the Consultation Zone, visitors can receive information and consultations on various support projects such as Busan City’s eco-friendly vehicle distribution project, the donation forest greenhouse gas certification system, and the low-NOx burner distribution project for emission facilities.
Lee Geun-hee, Director of the Environmental Policy Office of Busan City, stated, “As global regulations related to carbon neutrality, such as the European Union (EU)’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, are being strengthened, carbon neutrality in industry has become an unavoidable and very important issue.” He added, “Through the Carbon Neutral Policy Promotion Center established in conjunction with the ‘Climate Industry International Expo,’ we will actively promote our city’s excellent carbon neutral policies to the world and firmly establish Busan as a candidate city for hosting the 2030 World Expo.”
The ‘Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism’ is a tariff imposed on products produced or imported from countries with higher carbon dioxide emissions than the home country.
