Gmarket Partners with Gyeongbuk Province to Support Small Businesses Expanding Online Sales Channels

Business Agreement Ceremony Held on the 24th
Agreement Reached on Permanent Operation of 'Gyeongbukgwan'

Online marketplace Gmarket announced on the 25th that it has signed a business agreement with Gyeongsangbuk-do to 'expand and revitalize online sales channels for small business owners.'

The business agreement ceremony held the previous day at the Gmarket headquarters meeting room in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was attended by Gmarket Sales Director Lee Taek-cheon and Gyeongsangbuk-do Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Lee Dal-hee, among others. Both parties prepared various cooperation measures to support local small business owners and self-employed individuals struggling due to weakened consumer sentiment caused by high inflation.


Gmarket plans to support the activation of online sales for small business owners located in Gyeongsangbuk-do by establishing a dedicated promotion section called the 'Gyeongbuk Pavilion' during the second half of this year. It will operate continuously for six months starting from the 19th of next month, providing various promotional supports such as advertising and discount coupons. Additionally, small-scale sellers in the food category with annual transaction amounts under 100 million KRW will receive extra benefits such as reduced sales commissions to foster focused growth.


Gyeongsangbuk-do will assist local small business owners in expanding their online sales channels through various administrative supports. It also plans to provide financial support to promote sales activation. A total of 1 billion KRW will be allocated for promotional marketing costs, including discount coupons of up to 20%.


Small business owners wishing to participate in the Gmarket 'Gyeongbuk Pavilion' promotion can apply through the Gyeongsangbuk-do Economic Promotion Agency website. After an internal review based on participation conditions, they can receive promotional support from both Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gmarket.


Lee Taek-cheon, Sales Director of Gmarket, said, "This business agreement was established to support small business owners struggling with high inflation and to contribute to revitalizing the local economy. It will be an opportunity to actively promote competitively strong local small business products to various customer groups and provide practical business support to small business owners located in Gyeongsangbuk-do."
