Over 300 residents, including senior job participants and workers from related facilities, participated along with Mayor Lee Seung-ro and heads of relevant departments. The session provided a time for communication to listen to each other’s opinions and find solutions together to revitalize senior employment.
Before the official start, Mayor Lee Seung-ro, who appeared on stage wearing jeans, shouted “Jeans,” to which all participants responded in unison, “Youth is right now,” reaffirming their determination to create a ‘Seongbuk where seniors are vibrant and proud.’
Following this, discussions were held on five resident proposals submitted in advance both online and offline. The agenda included various topics such as ‘Improvement of Education Methods for Senior Job Participants,’ ‘Expansion of Senior Jobs,’ and ‘Expansion of Senior Welfare Centers.’ Participants empathized with the realities of senior job projects and deliberated on a wide range of issues from minor inconveniences to matters requiring policy reflection. Additionally, Mayor Lee Seung-ro, who has a deep affection for senior employment, provided responses.
After the resident proposal discussions, a Q&A session allowed for even more diverse conversations. In-depth resident opinions were raised on topics such as improving the environment and increasing manpower at the Senior Club, as well as future senior job and elderly welfare measures in Seongbuk-gu.
In response, Mayor Lee Seung-ro promised to prepare measures not only through the district’s own initiatives but also by cooperating with higher authorities to revitalize senior employment.
On this day, Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk-gu stated, “I express infinite respect to the seniors who have built and led this society so far,” and added, “We will do our best in various ways to ensure seniors have a vibrant and dignified old age.”
