Massage Shop Employee Who Urged Injection Sentenced to Prison for Fraud
A woman in her 50s in China has sparked controversy after it was revealed that the anticancer injection she received through an introduction from an acquaintance was actually flat cola. The group involved in the fraud was sentenced to prison.
According to Chinese media NBD on the 24th, Liu Xuan (58), who lives in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, began frequently visiting a nearby massage shop from June 2021 and became close with the owner, Hu Qian. As a regular customer, Liu Xuan considered Hu Qian almost like an 'adopted daughter.'
Then, last year, Hu Qian told Liu Xuan, "A friend's company has developed a new anticancer injection," adding, "If you get the injection, it can effectively prevent various cancers." She further encouraged the injection by saying, "If you endure it once, you can be comfortable forever."
Hu Qian also said that the cost price of the anticancer injection was about 1.2 million yuan (approximately 224 million KRW), but since her friend held a senior position in the company, she could help Liu Xuan get a favorable price. Eventually, Liu Xuan decided to receive the injection for 210,000 yuan (about 39 million KRW).
Afterwards, Hu Qian took Liu Xuan to a hotel, where an employee administered an unidentified brown liquid. They then emphasized 'confidentiality' and urged Liu Xuan not to tell even her family.
However, shortly after, Liu Xuan's biological daughter found out about this while borrowing money from her mother for home remodeling. Liu Xuan's daughter visited the health care shop with her mother, but the shop had already relocated, and they could not contact Hu Qian. The mother and daughter then reported Hu Qian to the police.
Police investigation revealed that the injection Liu Xuan received was flat cola. The person who introduced themselves as a 'senior executive of the company that developed the anticancer injection' was also found to be an employee of Hu Qian's shop. They were arrested and sentenced to prison for fraud.
The Chinese court sentenced Hu Qian to 3 years and 10 months in prison, the employee who administered the injection to 1 year and 6 months, and the employee who pretended to be a senior executive to 2 years in prison.
