Sancheong-gun to Operate "Living in the Countryside" Program Until October

Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is operating the "2023 Experience Living in Rural Areas" program until October.

The Experience Living in Rural Areas program provides urban residents with the opportunity to live in rural areas for an extended period before returning to farming or relocating, allowing them to experience jobs and living environments and interact with local residents to encourage successful settlement.

Sancheong-gun selected Jirisan Deokcheongang Village, an excellent experience village for the Experience Living in Rural Areas program, as the project operation village and will run the program for six months from this month until October.

The main experience programs in Jirisan Deokcheongang Village include making strawberry sujebi (hand-torn noodle soup), traditional natural dyeing experiences, and straw craft experiences.

In particular, the program promotes participants to experience agriculture by cultivating crops directly on plots owned by the village.

Previously, Sancheong-gun held a meeting with participants of the Experience Living in Rural Areas program. During the meeting, they provided guidance on Sancheong-gun’s distinctive return-to-farming and rural relocation policies and basic agricultural machinery usage.

They also visited the Sancheong-gun Agricultural Machinery Rental Center to learn about the basic operation of agricultural machinery.

An official from the county stated, “We will continue to promote Sancheong’s diverse and distinctive return-to-farming and rural relocation support policies and excellent natural scenery through the Experience Living in Rural Areas program,” adding, “We will make further efforts to enable people to return to farming or relocate to Sancheong-gun.”
