For the operation of the project, the Ministry of Education selects one hub university for each region, including the Gyeongsang region, Chungcheong & Gangwon region, and Jeolla & Jeju region. Gyeongnam National University was selected as the hub university for the Gyeongsang region. With this, Gyeongnam National University has achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for this project for six consecutive years since 2018.
So far, Gyeongnam National University has actively operated the ‘3E Model Paradigm,’ composed of Experience, Enjoyment, and Expertise, to realize educational donations by local universities for sports and arts activities in local elementary and secondary schools.
In addition, over the past five years, the university has promoted various educational donation activities targeting underprivileged areas and groups such as remote schools, local children’s centers, and welfare centers for the disabled, and supported university student club activities and the ‘Visiting Lecture & Talk Concert Project’ for elementary and secondary schools within the Gyeongsang region.
They have also discovered sports and arts education donors suitable for regional conditions and established a foundation for sports and arts education in local schools linked to educational donations through building community networks. Furthermore, they have promoted ‘Collaborative Educational Donations with the Local Community’ in partnership with the local company Rashiban.
Currently, professors from the College of Education’s Department of Education, Department of Physical Education, Department of Music Education, Department of Art Education, and Department of Cultural Contents are participating in the project.
Going forward, Gyeongnam National University plans to utilize its accumulated expertise in sports and arts to target elementary and secondary schools in the Gyeongsang region by ▲strengthening systematic career exploration capabilities through the application of the 3E model program ▲establishing a foundation for revitalizing sports and arts education through building human and material networks for community educational donations ▲fostering expertise and creative character development through university student participation in educational donations ▲enhancing sports and arts activities for underprivileged groups and spreading their value ▲and establishing a new paradigm for sports and arts education.
Professor Lee Hyuk-gi of the Department of Physical Education said, “The sports and arts education donation project contributes to enhancing creativity, which is recognized as an important competency of students, and also helps create a joyful school culture,” adding, “In the future, ‘educational donation’ will be the pivotal paradigm through which local universities can contribute to social responsibility.”
