The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-cheol), which is investigating the Democratic Party of Korea's '2021 Party Convention Money Envelope Distribution Allegation,' filed arrest warrants on the 24th against independent lawmakers Yoon Kwan-seok and Lee Seong-man for violating the Political Parties Act.
Lawmaker Yoon is accused of being involved in distributing a total of 60 million won to incumbent Democratic Party lawmakers in April 2021 to secure the election of former party leader Song Young-gil at the party convention. It was investigated that Yoon provided 20 envelopes, each containing 3 million won, to lawmakers, asking them to present or maintain support for candidates to regional delegates.
Lawmaker Lee is accused of providing 10 million won in cash to regional headquarters heads through primary campaign staff in March 2021 to support former leader Song's election. He is also accused of receiving 3 million won in April of the same year after receiving orders from Lawmaker Yoon.
