Supporting a Beautiful Festival with Thorough Safety Management
Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) conducted a joint inspection of the event site on the 23rd to ensure the safe and successful hosting of the 21st Nokdong Sea Fireworks Festival, which will be held for four days starting from the 25th at Nokdong Port.
According to the county, the joint inspection involved related organizations such as the Disaster Department, Gohung Police Station, Yeosu Coast Guard, Gohung Fire Station, Korea Electric Power Gohung Branch, and Korea Gas Safety Corporation Jeonnam Eastern Branch, who began a comprehensive inspection of the event site.
This year's Nokdong Sea Fireworks Festival will be held against the backdrop of the beautiful night sea view of Nokdong Port, featuring unique and diverse events such as the Sea Garden Multimedia Fireworks Show and Drone Show, Sea Fireworks Song Festival, Youth K-POP Festival, Gohung Exclusive Art Troupe Performances, Busking, and a Grand Festival, attracting many tourists.
Earlier, on the 11th, the county held a Safety Management Working Committee meeting chaired by Vice Governor Seon Yang-gyu to review the festival's safety management plan. Two days before the event, a pre-inspection by sector was conducted to enhance the effectiveness of the joint inspection, as the installation of major facilities such as temporary stages and electrical equipment within the event site was completed.
The joint inspection team checked whether the issues pointed out at the previous review meeting had been corrected and conducted facility inspections on structures, electrical, and fire-fighting equipment. They also thoroughly and meticulously inspected safety management aspects of the event site, such as securing rescue and first aid routes in case of emergencies and safety measures for hazardous materials, considering the expected large crowds.
As a result of this inspection, minor issues will be corrected on-site, and any matters posing accident risks will be intensively managed and fully supplemented before the event begins.
A county official stated, "The highlight of this festival is undoubtedly the Sea Garden Multimedia Fireworks Show held daily during the festival period," adding, "We will do our best to ensure flawless safety management so that visitors to the festival can enjoy it with peace of mind."
