The Gyeongbuk Office of Education will send 1,184 participants from 198 elementary and middle schools [380 officials, 804 athletes (472 male, 332 female)] to compete in the "52nd National Youth Sports Festival" held over four days from the 27th to the 30th in the Ulsan area.
Students selected as representatives of Gyeongbuk in 21 elementary and 35 middle school events through the "2023 Gyeongbuk Youth Sports Festival" held last March have been training hard to continue the excellent results achieved at the 51st National Youth Sports Festival last year.
In particular, in the Taekwondo events held as preliminary competitions from the 20th to the 22nd, the team made a smooth start by winning 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.
The Gyeongbuk delegation achieved outstanding results at last year’s "51st National Youth Sports Festival," winning a total of 147 medals: 35 gold, 46 silver, and 66 bronze across 36 events including athletics.
Lim Jong-sik, Superintendent of Gyeongbuk Education, stated, “We will spare no effort to support the young sports talents representing Gyeongbuk to safely participate in the 52nd National Youth Sports Festival and fully demonstrate the skills they have honed.”
