Creating Communication Spaces for Single-Person Households, Supporting Psychological Stability and Social Networks, Operating Health Programs, etc.
Customized Responses to the Diversified Needs of Single-Person Households through Various Support Projects
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is dedicating great effort to discovering social network projects tailored to the diverse characteristics of single-person households to ensure their emotional and physical stability, aiming to create a "Happy Gwanak for Single-Person Households."
This year, to secure diversity in support projects, the district applied for the "Seoul Single-Person Household Public Contest" with a total of four themes (▲Communication Space ▲Autonomous Planning ▲Social Dining ▲Vulnerable Middle-aged and Older Adults), achieving the great success of having all selected.
First, the district will establish a communication space called "Bongdabang" by July. Located in an unused space inside the YWCA Bongcheon Welfare Center, "Bongdabang" will serve as a comfortable communication and relaxing space for single-person households, operating programs to foster various social networks.
"Bongdabang" will operate ▲a "barter platform" for exchanging unused items ▲small group activities tailored to individual needs ▲and a cozy, comfortable "unmanned caf?" accessible to everyone, effectively serving as a community hub for single-person households.
Additionally, to support psychological stability, the district will run an urban nature experience program called "Green Life," autonomously planned, until November.
"Green Life" consists of three programs: ▲"Green in the Mind," psychological coaching through growing companion plants ▲"Green for Health," learning healthy eating habits by growing vegetables ▲and "Green in the Neighborhood," walking around Gwanak-gu’s landmarks while completing missions, helping participants experience nature in daily life and alleviate feelings of depression and loneliness.
The district also operates "Haengbok-ro 3-gil," a program for vulnerable middle-aged and older single-person households suffering from health issues such as chronic diseases due to imbalance in influences.
"Haengbok-ro 3-gil" supports forming healthy lifestyle habits by gathering participants to prepare side dishes and share meals to improve unbalanced eating habits. It especially helps strengthen daily living skills required in modern society, such as digital and financial information, actively assisting in preparing for a healthy old age.
Moreover, various health programs are operated, including ▲a social dining program for middle-aged men called "Happy Table" ▲"Happy With Mal," delivering meals to those in need of food support ▲and "Sharing Healthy Meals," providing healthy summer diets, all aimed at caring for the health of single-person households.
A district official stated, "We plan to continuously discover and operate various support projects tailored to the increasingly segmented needs of single-person households," adding, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that all residents walk together with the local community."
